Job Description

Associate Attorney - Plaintiff Personal Injury

Full-Time | $100,000-$125,000 Base Salary + Performance-Based Bonus

Kansas City Metro Area

An established and growing plaintiff-side personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its team. This role offers the opportunity to manage your own caseload, work alongside highly experienced trial and settlement attorneys, and continue developing your skills in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

This position is ideal for an attorney with at least two years of plaintiff personal injury experience who understands the fundamentals of case management, client service, and moving cases efficiently toward resolution.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will independently handle a personal injury caseload while benefiting from the mentorship and support of seasoned attorneys who have collectively spent decades representing injured individuals.

You'll have the autonomy to manage your files while gaining access to experienced practitioners for guidance on strategy, valuation, negotiation, litigation, and complex legal issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a caseload of approximately 100 personal injury matters from intake through resolution.
  • Evaluate new cases and assist with case acceptance decisions.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and provide exceptional client service.
  • Analyze liability, damages, insurance coverage, medical records, and treatment history.
  • Develop and implement case strategies.
  • Prepare and review settlement demand packages.
  • Negotiate directly with insurance carriers and defense counsel.
  • Assess cases for settlement opportunities and litigation.
  • Handle litigation matters appropriate to your level of experience.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and case management staff.
  • Maintain responsibility for deadlines, client communication, and overall case progression.

This role is well suited for an attorney who is proactive, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of their cases without requiring constant supervision.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of plaintiff personal injury experience.
  • Experience working within a plaintiff personal injury practice.
  • Missouri bar admission required.
  • Kansas bar admission preferred, or willingness to obtain admission promptly.
  • Experience independently managing injury cases.
  • Strong negotiation and case evaluation skills.
  • Excellent client communication abilities.
  • Sound judgment and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • A strong sense of accountability, urgency, and follow-through.

Extensive trial experience is not required. The firm is more interested in attorneys who understand personal injury litigation and can effectively move cases toward successful outcomes.

Professional Development & Mentorship

One of the most attractive aspects of this opportunity is access to a highly experienced legal team with decades of combined experience in:

  • Personal injury litigation
  • Negotiation and settlement strategy
  • Mediation
  • Trial preparation and courtroom advocacy
  • Complex litigation

While attorneys are expected to manage their own cases, they will have access to ongoing mentorship and collaboration from experienced practitioners who are invested in professional development and long-term success.

Culture

The firm is committed to delivering exceptional experiences for both clients and employees.

The team values:

  • Client-centered representation
  • Collaboration and teamwork
  • Accountability and ownership
  • Professional growth
  • Open communication
  • Positive workplace culture

Attorneys can expect a fast-paced environment where hard work is recognized, contributions are valued, and team members support one another in achieving outstanding results.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $100,000-$125,000 (commensurate with experience)

Additional Compensation:

  • Generous performance-based bonus opportunities tied to results

The position offers significant potential for professional growth, increased responsibility, and long-term advancement within a thriving plaintiff personal injury practice.

Applicants should be prepared to discuss:

  • Years of plaintiff personal injury experience
  • Typical caseload volume managed independently
  • Experience handling matters from intake through settlement and/or litigation
  • Current Missouri and Kansas bar status

This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated personal injury attorney seeking greater responsibility, strong mentorship, and a long-term career path with a growing and successful litigation practice.
